Concept Statements/Presentations/Quizzes/Notes & Visiting Artist Lectures
Project Concept Statements (5 points)
These will be required for each of the main projects your turn in.
They only need to be a paragraph long. (No more than a page). It's basically a short artist statement, discussing your ideas behind the work. You can talk about your choice of imagery, symbols etc.

Parameters:
- They must be typed.
- In the typed document include: your full name, the Project (Ex: Self Portrait) and class etc. For example: Jane Smith, Printmaking 1, Self Portrait Project.
- You can hand it in during class (Preferred method)
- Or you can email it prior to the critique. It must be sent as a pdf. (I will not accept statements that are just in the text body of an email). All files MUST BE LABELED IN THE FOLLOWING WAY: (For example: Last Name_First Initial_Self Portrait.)
Presentation on your assigned printmaker: (10 points)
Each of you are seated at a table that has the name of a printmaker in front of you. For this first presentation you will be introducing this person to the class.
This will be a quick 5 minute presentation.

- Include a minimum of 5 images of the artists Prints (These should be good quality images)- You can put them on a flash drive, or in a PowerPoint Presentation or load onto google drive, so you can access it via the Internet. Keep in mind, many of these artists did other types of artwork as well, but I want you to include a minimum of 5 of their prints).
- Brief Biography on the artist. (Where are they from, why are they important, are they living or dead).
- Brief artist statement of what their work was about.
Presentation on a Printmaker of your choice: (20 points)
This will be a longer 10 minute presentation on a printmaker of your own choosing. (It cannot just be a friend of yours- we're casting a wider net here) I want you to focus on someone who does RELIEF/SCREEN/BOOK ARTS depending on which course your in.

- Do PowerPoint Presentation or bring high quality image files on a Flash Drive to save time. (DO NOT JUST PULL UP A WEBSITE).
- Include a minimum of 10 good quality images of the artists prints, you can include additional works in other mediums but need to have a minimum of 10 of their prints. (If you can't find 10, then you'll need to select someone else.)

Quizzes (Variable points)
I will be giving you a couple of quizzes throughout the semester. These will be open Sketchbook/Notes quizzes meaning you can rely on your notes. The number of points for each quiz will vary depending on the number of questions. Quizzes will be based on demonstrations, information on PRINTANA Remote website, handouts, lectures, powerpoints and the like.

Notes (20 points)
I will be reviewing your notes (they can be in your sketchbook if you prefer) throughout the semester. You should be taking notes on lectures, demonstrations and the like, as well as doing preliminary sketches for projects. I will be awarding points for your notes 3 times during the semester.

Visiting Artist Lectures (20 points)
We will be having two Visiting Artists in Printmaking this semester. Both Artists will be presenting a public lecture/talk on their work. (2 options)
Option 1: Attend their lecture and write a one paragraph statement about their talk.
Option 2: If you are unable to attend, then you can write a two page typed paper about their work. (Due one-week after their lecture).
**Bonus points option: 5 extra points if you ask a question.
