DRYPOINT COLOR TECHNIQUES /


You've already experimented with the following techniques on the first project:
Dirty Wipe; Color inking (wipe single color, instead of black); Surface rolling; Hand-coloring; dyeing paper; chine colle' and A la Poupee'.

Here are a few other techniques:  

COLOR VARIATIONS / PROCESSES:​  

You will do a total of 6 prints.  
Step one, develop a key plate. This same key plate can be used for any of the below listed techniques.
Step two, you will select one or more techniques to explore from each group to use with your key plate, you must select at least one option from each group.  So you will be doing at least two different techniques with your plate.


GROUP A / 3 high quality prints using any of the options from group A.
  • Option 1: Multi-plate using 2 or more drypoint plates registered together - (transfer design to second plate)
  • Option 2: Monotype using multiple plates (key image in dark color-with transparent colors over top or underneath using second plate)-ala Jenny Robinson, Emmi Whitehorse and Marwin Begaye.

GROUP B / 3 high quality prints using any of the options from group B.  
  • Option 1: Monotype directly onto plate.
  • Option 2: Surface Roll with Transparent Color.​
  • Option 3: John Armstrong Collage Method

PROJECT PARAMETERS /
1. Minimum image size: 8" x 10"
2. Minimum paper size is 11" x 14"
3. Edition of 6 well printed images.
​4. Utilizing techniques from both group A & B above.
