Project 2: Woodcut

For this project you will be working with Shina plywood.

Prompt: Modified.

You will work with a subject and style of your choice.  It could be realistic/abstract, a figure or landscape etc.
Explore what the term "modified" means to you.  We modify the landscape we live in, we modify our bodies, or politics, our cars etc.

Project Parameters:

• Image size: Minimum of 8"x 10"
• Paper size: Minimum of 11"x 14"

Edition of 10 high quality prints, broken down in the following manner:
2-B & W
2-Hand-Colored
2-Dyed paper
2-Chine Colle'
2-Artists choice


Techniques to learn:
Hand-coloring
Dyeing paper
Chine colle' (on print and print to larger backing sheet)

Discussion of cutting wood/Knife & Chisel
Types of Wood
Bringing up the grain with a wire brush.
