Aug 25- PPT: Introduction to the course. Review syllabi, website, BFA spaces/mentorships. Fill out questionnaire.
Aug 27- PPT: Resume vs CV. Discussion on biographical statements (300 words). Assignment: Create/Revise CV and write a 300-word biographical statement: both due Sept 8. (bring 4 hardcopies of each)
WK 2/
Sept 1- PPT: Photographing Artwork. Start gathering images for artist talk. Assignment: Shoot work and email me 2 images on Sept 22 by noon.
Bring in one piece or a print out of one piece to discuss for Tuesday, Sept 8. No class on Thursday.
Sept 3- No Class
WK 3/
Sept 8- DUE: CV & Biographical statement. (Bring in 4 copies of each) Artist statements, meet in groups to discuss work and review CV’s/Bio Statements.
Assignment: Write an Artist Statement; Elevator pitch; 3 columns on your work , due next Thursday.
Sept 10- Due: Artist Statement; Elevator pitch; 3 columns on your work and in class review on them. Start looking at artists websites you like and bring in a link on Sept 15th Start Discussion PPT: Graduate Schools
WK 4/
Sept 15-Websites & Social Media. Review other artists websites. Assignment: Update/start a professional website, due Live on Oct 29.
Sept 17- PPT: Getting Yourself Out there: Part 1: Applying to Exhibitions. Assignment: Apply to annual Juried Student Show & Apply to one out of state juried exhibition. Due: Prior to Dec 3rd. Keeping it all organized. Assignment: Develop an inventory list, minimum of 10 pieces. Due: Oct 15.
WK 5/
Sept 22-PPT: Good, The Bad and the Ugly. Giving an Artist Talk / Assignment: Artist Lecture & Poster final project. DUE: Starting Wk 13/14/15) Sign up sheet for times. DUE: 2 emailed jpegs of your work due by noon.
Sept 24- PPT: Studios & Budgets. Assignment: Do a drawing of your ideal space or what you think you can get by with. Also put together a budget/materials/equipment and suppliers list due Oct 13. Meet in groups by media to brainstorm.
WK 6/
Sept 29-Discuss BFA exhibition in Off Center Gallery. Come up with Title and volunteers for Poster design ideas for Oct 17. PPT: Presentation and Installation.
Oct 1- Graduate School & Post Graduate School discussion with guest speakers: Past Alumni: Beth, Tressa, Tyler? (Tomorrow: Alumni exhibition opening) & Current Grads too? (confirm this)
WK 7/
Oct 6- PPT: Getting Yourself Out there: Part 2: Approaching Galleries/Museums. Assignment: Research a gallery outside of Montana- Write a Press release & Make an Invoice form: Both Due Oct 27 & Submit gallery printout.
Oct 8- Vote on Poster Design for Knowles exhibition. Second draft of CV due. Individual Meetings with Jim on final presentations (optional) & Send me artwork description of your piece for exhibition. (Your name, title, media and date of the work.) by Oct 20th.
WK 8/
Oct 13- PPT: Artist Residencies. Assignment: Research an artist residency. (put together a packet)-print out of residency & guidelines. Due: Dec 3rd or before. Due: Budget & floorplans due, meet in groups to discuss.
Oct 15- Visiting Artist Stella Nall (Making it as an artist-Residencies/murals/swag) Due: Inventory List (Need to confirm this)!!!!!

Oct 20- Due: Send me artwork description of your piece for exhibition. Your name, title, media and date of the work.
Oct 22- Discussion on Grants. Have Shelby discuss 499/BFA exhibition. (Need to confirm this)
WK 10/
Oct 27- LLC’s (Someone from Wild Fire Ceramics or Clay Studio or New print studio. (Need to confirm this) Due: Gallery printout and press release & invoice form.
Oct 29- Websites due/In class review (Your website must be live-Not just in development stage).
WK 11/
Nov 3- Continue discussion on websites. PPT: Crating & Shipping. Posters for Artist Talks due.
Nov 5- Install BFA exhibition in Off Center Gallery.
