Image & Text Poem Collaboration
For this project you will be collaborating with a student from a creative writing class taught by Emily Bober.
PROMPT: These don't belong together.
Process:
1-Each of you will be given a poem to read by a poetry student.
2-You will then fill out the questionnaire below based on your reading of their work. (They will also fill out the same questionnaire based on their intentions).
3-You will contact the writer no later than March 25th to set up either an email, in-person meeting, phone call or zoom meeting.
4- You will then go off and create a series of sketches/drawings of your ideas. Try to develop at least three different versions/iterations.
5- You will then get in touch with your collaborator and discuss your visual ideas. (no later than April 20th)
Finally, you will print your final version.
For the prints you create you have many options: You must incorporate some text, how much will be up to you. It can be a single word or line from the poem. The entire poem. You can think about printing one word/s on the front with images, and then printing the entirety of the text on the back of the print. Think about color, transparency, font, scale, movement.
We will be gathering with the poetry students on May 4th, to hang the work and perhaps have a poetry reading and a chance to see all the work together.
