Final Class Portfolio / SCREENPRINTING
Theme: MYTH
Definition: Myths are stories that are based on tradition. Some may have factual origins, while others are completely fictional. But myths are more than mere stories and they serve a more profound purpose in ancient and modern cultures. Myths are sacred tales that explain the world and man's experience. They may embody the ideals of an institution or society. They may be an unfounded or false notion.
You will do a print based on your concept for the above theme. You wil receive one print from everyone in the class and they will receive one of yours. You will be receiving one of your own as well.
Project parameters:
- Image Size- Minimum of 8"x 10" (Can be vertical or horizontal orientation)
- Paper Type: Good Quality Print paper, (No newsprint/butcher paper or the like)
- Paper Size: Cut down to exactly 11"x 14". (Automatically docked 10 points if paper size doesn't conform to size requirements).
- Minimum of 4 layers. (Dyeing/spray paint can count as one of your four)
- Edition Size is 20. Prints must be properly signed in pencil only, presented in descending order, #1 on top and #15 on the bottom. (If there is a particular print you want for yourself DO NOT INCLUDE IT AS PART OF YOUR TWENTY PRINTS!!!!!!!)
- High quality well printed images with clean borders.
DEADLINES:
-Monday, November 27th or before- Preliminary deadline- You must at a bare minimum have one layer printed by this date or docked 10 points. (Not just dyed or spraypainted paper).
-Wednesday, December 6th- Final Prints due (signed and dry). If your prints are not complete and ready to be collected at this time, you will be left out of the portfolio and likewise NOT receive any prints from your peers.
All prints must be signed and cut down to the proper size PRIOR TO CLASS. I will dock you 10 points if you are using class time on the 10th to sign or cut down prints!!! In other words- Manage your time.
Grading Criteria
The main print projects are worth 100 points, (unless otherwise stated) broken down in the following manner:

- Met parameters of project, correct size, edition, process, runs- 10 pts
- Print Quality: Well printed, consistent, even and clean borders, signed correctly-10 pts
- Met all preliminary and final deadlines-10 pts
- Image & Concept- 70 pts
